We’re delighted to be taking part in the Mother Tongues Festival 2022 – the largest festival celebrating linguistic diversity through the arts in Ireland. Its mission is to showcase the country’s rich artistic and cultural tapestry and connect people through the power of language.

The festival, which runs from 21st-26th February, encourages everyone to colour outside the lines, learn something new and embrace the rich kaleidoscope of languages spoken in Ireland.

Dr Francesca La Morgia, founder of Mother Tongues, is one of our incredible Impact Awardees.

The SEI team are excited to be participating in two events during the festival:

  1. Mon, 21st Feb: the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland team will be speaking at this special, invite-only Opening Night event in the Civic Theatre, Tallaght. This event is celebrating multilingualism, marking the Mother Tongue’s Festival’s fifth anniversary (!) and giving space to highlight the brilliant work of all those organizations showing good practice in harnessing the power of multilingualism … and social entrepreneurship in our case
  2. Sat, 26th Feb: come see the SEI team in Red Rua on Saturday, where not only can you chat to us about social entrepreneurship and our open applications process, but also get to meet a whole host of other brilliant organisations!

Other highlights of the festival include:

  • EKAABO!!! – Nigerian theatrical and communal entertainment, including dance and storytelling
  • A Musical Tapestry – listen to the commonalities and differences in the music traditions from across the Eastern and Western Mediterranean.
  • A series of short foreign language films from all around the world!

See you there! 😊
