Introducing our Impact Awardees 2022 – 2023

Today, we kick off SEI’s 2022 – 2023 Impact Programme!

The SEI Impact Programme identifies high-potential social entrepreneurs and supports them through significant funding and mentoring, as well as providing access to a network of support and € 20,000 in unrestricted funding each!

After over 100 applications from all over Ireland, and a rigorous screening and interview process, we are super excited to share with you the five awardees on this year’s Impact programme.

Drum roll please…

The 2022 – 2023 Impact Awardees

  • DcodeDyslexia – Mary Moran: a structured literacy reading programme for dyslexic students, their parents and schools.
  • Hair Together – Eileen McHugh: a personal development programme, which uses the art of hairdressing and barbering to reach and engage with young people who have not yet reached their full potential through mainstream education.
  • Jiminy Eco Toys – Sharon Keilthy: a toy store shaking up the plastic focused toy industry by creating and sourcing genuinely eco-friendly and sustainable toys for children.
  • The B!G Idea – Kim Mackenzie-Doyle: a creative education initiative programme for 15-16 year-olds bridging the gap between industry and education by having students work on projects solving social issues.
  • The Two Norries – James Leonard & Timmy Long: A podcast which uses personal stories, humour, and sensitive down-to-earth advice themed around crime, mental health, addiction and social and health issues

What happens next for the Impact Awardees?

The five awardees are now a part of SEI’s nine-month accelerator programme. The programme will run from August 2022 to April 2023.

The Goal

We will provide the five awardees with specialised support to help them to bring their project or organisation to the next level, with a view to becoming a highly impactful, effective, scalable organisation.

Training & Support

Throughout the nine months, the awardees will work with Sophie – SEI’s Programme Manager to support them in key areas of need. SEI will provide one-to-one support, coaching and consultancy as well as group training, in areas such as leadership development, communications, governance, strategic planning, fundraising, and resilience.

Welcome to the community (or family…!)

The five Awardees will receive support and mentorship from many extremely experienced social entrepreneurs currently driving social change across the country, along with Ireland’s leading business experts. The awardees will also become members of the SEI Community where they can continue to avail themselves of support after the Impact Programme ends.

Impact Programme Funding

The five Impact Awardees will receive unrestricted funding of €20,000 to support them to build strong foundations for their organisations and grow their impact, in addition to all non-financial supports!

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland is delighted to welcome Kennedy Wilson as the Major Programme Sponsor of the Impact Programme from 2022 – 2025.

Watch this space!

Lastly, we want to thank everyone who applied for the 2022 Impact Programme. Applicants never fail to blow us away with their relentless passion and work creating a positive impact on Ireland’s society. Keep up the fantastic work.

Well done to Mary, Eileen, Sharon, Kim, James and Timmy. SEI is delighted to welcome you on board and can’t wait to get the ball rolling.

Follow along on their journey by keeping up to date with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland social media channels. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for this lot!
