Cormac Lynch
Camara
Cormac is founder and chief executive of Camara Education. Camara Education takes in second-hand computers that have been discarded by Irish organisations. They refurbish, test and pack these machines before sending them to schools and colleges in Africa. To support these computers, Camara recruits computer science volunteers to travel to the schools and colleges in Africa to provide basic computer literacy and maintenance training.
This training leads to International Computer Driving License (ICDL) certification. Camara also prepare multimedia software covering important social topics such as HIV/AIDs awareness.
Prior to launching Camara, Cormac worked in the engineering and finance sectors, spending 5 years as a petroleum engineer in the North Sea and 12 years as an investment banker in London, New York and Moscow. In addition to his undergraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin, he has an MSc from Imperial College London and an MBA from Stanford University. He is currently completing an MDevt at UCD, looking at the viability of using ICT in Education in Sub-Saharan Africa.
